Hexoskin announces today the nomination of Jean-Pierre Desmarais as an independent director on Hexoskin's Board of Directors.
Jean-Pierre Desmarais brings more than four decades in the medical device industry, spanning R&D, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and global commercialization. His background includes serving as Chief Scientific Officer at CryoCath Technologies (acquired by Medtronic) in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, President of Piramal Healthcare Bio-Orthopedics (acquired by Smith+Nephew), and CEO of Innovitech, an innovation advisory firm working across medical technology and aerospace. He currently serves as CEO of Leaflet solution who develops devices that facilitate transcatheter cardiac valve implantation.
Across his career, Jean-Pierre has guided medical technologies from early-stage development through regulatory approval, including FDA, EU CE, and other international pathways, and into global commercial and reimbursement markets. That perspective brings real value to the Hexoskin team as it accomplishes its mission: delivering medical wearables as a trusted source of digital biomarkers in cardiology, respiratory, neurology, and rare disease clinical trials.

Hexoskin is a Montreal-based medtech company that develops the Hexoskin Medical Shirt, a unique FDA-cleared wearable that continuously captures 3-lead ECG, dual-channel respiratory inductance plethysmography, and 3-axis accelerometry. Hexoskin's data is used as digital biomarkers and clinical endpoints in pharmaceutical trials spanning cardiology, respiratory, neurology, and rare disease programs, giving research teams continuous, clinical-grade physiological data outside traditional clinical settings. Behind this work sits a large proprietary cardiorespiratory database spanning over 300 studies — a unique foundation that Hexoskin is building on through AI research focused on respiratory and neurological diseases.
