Celebrating World COPD Day: Actions & Awareness for COPD

November 20, 2019

Today is COPD day. World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Day (COPD) is celebrated on the third Wednesday of November every year, in collaboration with health experts, research foundations and patients with COPD.

COPD is not one single disease but an umbrella term used to describe chronic lung diseases that cause limitations in lung airflow. COPD is a life-threatening disease in advanced cases. It is an under-diagnosed and life-threatening lung disease, leading cause of death in the United States, affecting 16 million Americans and millions more who don’t know they have it.

Help support research and education by giving to the COPD Foundation that undertakes daily initiatives to improve the lives of individuals affected by COPD, and expand care services for COPD. The Foundation’s activities focus on achieving these results through education and advocacy programs and research that will lead to prevention, and someday, a cure for this disease.
